Trauma

Trauma

We’ve all experienced some form of trauma in our lives. It doesn’t have to involve a major accident or military combat to have a lasting impact. Life events such as the loss of a loved one, medical illness, being bullied, or growing up in an unpredictable or unsafe home can all leave deep emotional marks—especially if they are repeated or happen over time.

Even when we don’t label something as ‘trauma’, our nervous system might. You might notice yourself feeling stuck, anxious, or reacting to everyday situations in ways that don’t seem to make sense. Often, this is your mind and body responding to an unresolved experience from the past.

Common post-traumatic symptoms include:

- Flashbacks or vivid memories

- Nightmares or disrupted sleep

- Feelings of panic or ongoing anxiety

- A sense of being emotionally overwhelmed or disconnected

As human beings, we’re incredibly resilient—but trauma can leave traces. These experiences don’t have to define you, and they can be worked through safely and gently.
